The press conference of the “168+1” Campaign, organized by the teachers of the Ummah Educational Network in cooperation with teachers from the city of Minab, was held on May 21, 2026 (Ordibehesht 31, 1405) at 4:00 PM Iran Standard Time, amidst the ruins of the Shajareh Tayyebeh School in Minab.
The event commenced with the reading of a statement and a recounting of the day of the tragedy by the campaign’s Teacher Ambassador, along with the campaign’s student ambassadors, both female and male.
The gathering continued with remarks by acclaimed Iranian filmmaker Babak Khajeh Pasha and Nicholas O’Keefe, a former United States Marine, whose speeches condemning the crime deeply moved the audience.
Speaking at the event, the campaign’s Secretary, Mr. Ali Niko, outlined the objectives of this international initiative, emphasizing efforts to pursue legal accountability for the U.S. airstrike that resulted in the deaths of 168 innocent students, teachers, and civilians. He also stressed the importance of public support and participation in increasing the political and moral cost of such crimes for international perpetrators.
The conference was attended by Sunni religious scholars, surviving teachers, families of the victims, provincial officials, and prominent national and international figures.
In addition, media organizations and news agencies from 60 countries covered the event through live broadcasts and news reports.
